Our team consists of journeymen and apprentice plumbers, sheet metal mechanics, gas fitters, air conditioning technician, welder, pipe fitters, as well as 5th class power engineer and WETT certified personnel. If you have a job, we can complete it.
Company History
J&R Mechanical was established because two families loved the North and wanted to stay.
In the early 1970’s two men (Joseph Chorostkowski and Ron Vanderlinde) came to the north working for a large Alberta mechanical company called Lockerbie and Hole. Joe and Ron first met as superintendents working on the Yellowknife Shopping Center (YK Centre) and the Bellanca Building. They quickly became friends.
As these two jobs neared completion in the mid 1970’s, the families’ desire to remain in the north gave rise to the idea of starting their own plumbing and heating company in Yellowknife.
In 1976 Joe and Ron along with their wives Elise and Linda, started J&R Mechanical (incorporating in 1977). After many years of working together to create a successful business Ron and Linda left the north and Joe and Elise became sole owners in 1991. In the early 2000’s, it became a full family business with Ken Miller, Bradley Chorostkowski, and Bryan Chorostkowski becoming equal partners with Joe.
